I want one. From Barnsley. Is it something they do in the horrific sports shops like JD or whatever they're called? Help appreciated.
There is a waiting list though, so you'll have to get to the back of the queue. Sorry mate, that was awful. In my defense, I have just come back from the local after a few strong West Coast IPAs, as I celebrated Australia Day.
There are a few specialists about, Bowens at Wadworth, Mills, and Barker Billiards both in Sheffield. Simon at Barkers is a good lad. Wath Sports might be worth a call, traditional sports shop, still going last time I looked.
I bought my BCE cue and case from Sports Direct. I wanted a Ronnie O' Sullivan one but had to settle for a Mark Selby endorsed one. Long story. I had a cheap Ronnie O' Sullivan BCE cue and leather press stud case. I sanded the shine off the cue so it didn't stick on my sweaty bridge hand. I liked a smooth glide whilst enjoying a sweet screw. It had a blue diamond tip which I rounded off to get as much area to to touch the cue ball. Best cue I ever had. Regularly got 32 ( 4 reds and blacks) and cleared the colours 27. Eventually playing to a decent standard. Anyway I went to Kellingley Club one afternoon with my mate and lost 7 nil to my mate. I blamed the cue instead of the 8 pints of diesel (cider, lager and black). I took my cue against the wall and put my boot straight through it. Then chucked it in the skip outside the club. I haven't been the same player since. My new cue is a mass produced replica of the Ronnie cue I trashed so hopefully I'll get my mojo back. The main point is I don't think it matters on the quality of the cue. If you can't hit a camel's arse with a banjo. Might as well have a cheap plank of wood if you're only having a light hearted knock about. If you're joining a league or something by all means pay over the odds to a connoisseur but on song I'd back myself and stick of rhubarb.
OMG the rumours are true ,everyone and everything in the club ..............(wait for it.) ................................is going to pot
Got to be contender for post of the year so far ,was LOL just had Sean of the dead image in my head ,lol
Don't know if they still sell them but I seem to remember me and my dad both buying our cues from Corner Pocket about 20 years or so ago.
I come from a line of good players on both sides of my Mum's family, unfortunately it bypassed me... 40 odd breaks (now and again) were the best I ever managed, My granddad was a good class billiards player in the 1930's but had to stop as the stress of competition was affecting his nerves... in the 1980's we took him along to our club to play, he gave us a billiards education for a couple of hours and then agreed to a frame of snooker to finish the evening... apologising that snooker wasn't his game... 84 years old and casually knocked a 100 break in. Having your own cue doesn't make you a better player per se, but it does at least give you a consistent piece of kit, if you can try and use other people's and find what weight and diameter of tip suits you... also ones that take the butt extension are useful, better than using the window cleaning tackle for me.
Thanks for the advice. I’m not expecting to reach the Crucible or owt. I just fancy having my own cue when I do go and play a few frames of an evening.
