A true hero for our club. I grew up on the Wilson Street estate Wombwell as he did. He was in the year above me at Highfields School.
great little piece of writing that on the club website, made me fill up a bit ,Mr Cryne will always be remembered fondly
He made mistakes, he owned them. He played down his successes. It was hard to see his actions as anything other than putting club first, even when it cost him significant sums to do so. The contrast with what we're currently enduring is stark. Once a red, always a red.
One made us, one saved us and another is destroying us. Not sure what he’d make of the sad state of affairs right now…..
I thought the same. Well written, and obviously uncensored. Great work @YTBFC and the team. RIP Patrick
The final quote summed up his tenure for me. He wanted what we all wanted but unfortunately didn't get chance to deliver.
He came to our presentation do's (Hoyland reds) on a few occasions. And once we asked him to present the awards. The ovation he got was heartwarming. And we presented him with a gift to show our appreciation. It was the first time he'd recieved such a thing. And his reaction showed how much it meant to him. RIP sir.
RIP Patrick. He was by no means perfect, but everything he did for this club had the club’s best interest at heart.
If ever there was a time when his absence was so starkly felt it is right now. A very fitting article. Credit to those involved in publishing it.
