Nope. We got found out in our last few games of the season, inc. both play-off games. It was then where our Plan B wasn’t good enough. I think WBA have the same issue now, they are struggling to adapt their game and teams now know how to play against a VI side. I genuinely believe that whilst we would have faired better than we currently have if VI had stayed with us, I think we also would have struggled more this season too.
I’d say missed chances in the home leg were a bigger factor in the play offs than being found out. Won 4 and drew 2 of our last 8 league games
Agreed. Morris was so close hitting the bar in the last minute…and brittain really should have scored. Their keeper was excellent too. we were outstanding and very consistent last season, extremely difficult to play against. We were the second best team in the league under val. Massive credit to val for motivating them and getting more than the sum of the players’ parts.
I’m not saying we were poor, but watching the games you could see we had been worked out. Results and performances were still good, but it’s the Plan B we didn’t have. For me personally, that’s where we struggled against Swansea. Swansea did a Swansea - and we had nothing to answer it. No obvious Plan B or C. Not knocking VI - great manager. But think that’s been his problem this year too.
