If we're playing boring negative football I'd sooner we'd have a so called " dinosaur" who's been there and done it , so would take less time to chalk the first 1- 0 win on the board. Usually I couldn't care less where a manager comes from but going for an inexperienced manager from abroad again with the club infrastructure in turmoil seems like a recipe for disaster.
He's been here less than a week Helen but he knows we're a team lacking in confidence and the only way to boost confidence is by not losing to start with.I expect in the next coming weeks we'll see a better picture of what his team will look like.We can't go from looking like a team of strangers to beating teams over night.
I get that, I just think he's starting further back than an " established" championship manager and time isn't on our side. It's not impossible just harder.
Read his post match interview it makes a lot of sense, making us more structured at the back so we can be more offensive going forward.
The difference on Saturday was that we covered the wings because the wing backs stayed back. It’s always been about wing backs. If they go forward they must be covered and get back rapidly. That takes fitness and they need a good engine. The vacant wings have been exploited by every team we’ve played this season. We need width because we’re not good enough to attack down the middle. Mowatt was a bigger loss than we knew. We now know how to not get beaten his task now is to get a goal. I’m not looking forward to free flowing football this year. What would we give for a scheming midfielder with vision? Come back Hourihane all is forgiven.
Just watching the replay on ifollow. I don't think the issue with our attack was intent, it was just poor decision making and quality near their box. Woodrow should've put Morris in, Morris could've played Kitching in wide to play a ball in (though he did come close), and could argue that Woodrow should've held the ball at with the late half chance because the chances of him scoring from that distance and angle were slim. Cole got into decent positions but his final ball was poor at times also.
