Are Christmas decorations going up earlier than usual this year?

    I know they seem to get earlier each year but I've just looked out of my window and I can see 4 houses with their decorations up and I can only see about 6 houses in total. Never noticed so many in November before

    I think a lot put them up early last year with the lockdowns ect. Probably carried on into this year. My eldest informed me we had them up at the end of Novemebr last year. So I compromised this year and put the tree up. I'm having a rare night out with friends after the game next Saturday so it's one less job next weekend.

    I also think that it's true afterwards. Feels like they all come down before the turkey has gone cold.

    Not in our house. Christmas Eve, and down the day after Boxing Day. That'll show 'em!

    We got our tree about two weeks ago. My girlfriend hasn't had one since she was little and I didn't have any decs up last year as I felt miserable in my tiny flat in lockdown. So this year we have gone all out, and it feels nice :) but I do understand the backlash :D

    I think the general trend is moving to put them up earlier and take them down earlier. Ours will go up next weekend and come down shortly after Christmas.

    That's lovely, each to their own and the whole point of Christmas is it's a winter festival the purpose of which is to get us through the darkest, coldest part of the year.

    I am surprised - nay, amazed - that no-one has yet called into question the environmental impact of Christmas Decorations. The things themselves contain lots of plastic and other undesirable things, and they must add to energy consumption! :eek:

    They are for sure.

    My fiancé wanted to put our tree up this weekend but I said it was way too early, she compromised and put the tree up Saturday. Jokes on her though as the dog just keeps stealing all the baubles off it just as I said she would.

    ours went up this weekend. the boy was excited because of the snow and wanted to put them up. good enough for me.
