Post cancer surgery which has left me with a condition called foot drop, and have to wear a aid around my ankle the other attachment hooks to another part held in place by laces so I can only wear footwear with laces now, the aid has velcro which is a nightmare, I've already gone through 6 aids in 12 months because the velcro just collects anything and everything and then starts to fail

Cant beat good old fashioned laces - until you break your wrist - its a bit tricky to tie a shoelace one handed !
all my shoes are lace ups except for a pair of gardening clogs (slip on) and a pair of sandals (buckle)
Not sure I ever want a shoe with a velcro fastening

A few years ago I rocked up for a pre match pint wearing, what I thought to be, a stylish pair of slip on loafers. Clearly ahead of my time I was met with ‘Who have you come as? Effing Pocahontas?’

Ha, I remember going out wearing a pair of red & white striped football socks & folk took the mickey, two months later Captain Sensible had a pair on, exactly the same type.

Love that :D even funnier that Pocahontas didn't wear shoes did she, she went round barefoot! Maybe they were thinking of Peter Pan's winklepickers?
