After scoring 28 goals in 46 games for Barnsley, who had been unable to progress beyond the Second Division, Tommy Taylor was transferred to defending First Division champions Manchester United in March 1953 for the unusual fee of £29,999.

Good post and pretty near the mark. I've never believed the Owners (Conway) are asset stripping or deliberately wrecking the Club; that would make no sense financially or otherwise. What we have before us is 4 years evidence of general incompetency on a scale rarely seen at this football Club - with no end in sight for that mismanagement - on and off the field. That's all the more staggering when you look back at the opportunities that were available to build something really good that we could all be proud off. They were just tossed away.
