They get a decent side together, get promoted, seriously strengthen, still get their arses handed to them.
Get relegated, have a side too good for the Championship, turn up to matches pretty much knowing they will win , get promoted, get their arses handed to them again, and so it goes on!

I miss those winning days of League One. Thrashing the likes of Rochdale and Fleetwood away, expecting to win every game. Everyone happy and smiling.
I’m afraid it’s time for our annual swap chairs with Rotherham game. Just listen to their fans on RS, full of it, we’re the best in the league etc. Then, this time next season, it will be Warne Out again.
    Funny old game, Saint…

I very rarely approach one of our games expecting to win, hardly ever go above we’ve got a good chance of winning this.
Been a fan way too long to be that confident! :p

Oh to get our arses kicked every other season in the PL instead of the Championship it would be a pleasure. But then again if we got the right mix of manager and players in we could be like Burnley and hang around in the PL But for any of the above to happen we'd need a board with the ambition to succeed on the field instead of the ambition to just make a profit on signing rejected U23s from other clubs and selling them on.

If you offered me promotion from league 1 next season now, I’d snatch your hands off. I dread to think what team we’ll have left after a relegation this time, without much cash in the bank, like we had last time

The gulf between the Championship and League One is bigger than that of Premier League and Championship these days.

We finished in the playoffs last season and all three promoted clubs are above us.

League One is a tough place to be, and past performance is no guarantee of future success at that level. You need the right combination of manager and players, and the rub of the green.
Look at Sunderland. They're partway through their fourth season in L1 and are currently 6th. How many of us thought they'd be stuck there this long? Then you've got Wednesday, Wigan, Ipswich, Pompey, Wycombe, Bolton... all recent Championship sides, all desperate to get back up to the second tier. If we're relegated his season, we could be in for a long struggle.

That isnt a reflection of how close the league's are but how badly we, as a club, have performed since we upset the owners by finishing too high last season.
