Apparently WBA at home has been moved to 17th December (Mad Friday) evening kick off for SKY Not sure how true it is
I think I'd forgive them the West Stand debacle.. (granted, I wasnt evicted).... if they managed to get Val back.
I realise I’ll probably be in a tiny minority, but I personally wouldn’t want him back. Couldn’t get away quick enough.
Can you blame him? Stay around Val. We won’t change much, we’ll just replace one of the leagues best midfielders with a 19 year old centre half from the academy. Oh, and if you dare ever try and get this club promoted again and cost us money, you’re gone.
I think West Brom will stick by Val. At least give him the season. Hopefully Schopp will be gone though. Unless of course he has somehow miraculously turned us around by then but I highly doubt it.
I don’t think he’s got long left based on yesterday. The better team against Fulham but a shocking penalty and a gift from Snodgrass - still boo’d off at half time by the away fans. If they drop from the top six before Christmas he’ll go. West Brom have never messed about.
I’d be very surprised if they drop out of the top 6, but he’ll be in trouble if that gap to second place gets much bigger I reckon.
They were the better side yesterday but as you say, a lucky penalty and gifts to Fulham resulted in a defeat. That kind of thing won’t last though as the season goes on. I’d be shocked if West Brom dropped out of the top 6, particularly before we play them in December.
Their forum makes for interesting reading. All very familiar sounding. Debate between quality vs results. Discussion about initial ‘shock and awe’ now starting to wear off, no plan B, other teams starting to work them out etc. I don’t think they will accept anything other than automatic. If they start losing ground on top two, he’s in trouble.
Think they’re in for a shock of they think top two is up for grabs with the squad they’ve got and the form and squad of Fulham and Bournemouth tbh , Playoffs is about their Barra imo.
I think our players were more suited to his system - ie our team last season is much better than theirs this. I think he will stay in charge - their owners don’t want to spend much brass and they will remain in the top 6 I would have thought the frustration for me is that we had struck gold on a formula that worked - it could easily have been replicated even when Val left, but for some unknown reason we ripped it up and started again. It will become a very expensive mistake
I don’t have this frustration because I don’t think it would have been that easy. Val’s style was pretty unique and to continue it as it was would have likely meant hiring a coach and instructing them to play his way. The biggest issue with Val moving on is that he inherited a stable and experienced coaching team and then took it with him when he was successful. If we hadn’t have lost that spine on the training pitch/analysts side I think we’d be another six points better off. Which considering everything else this Summer would have been ok as a base to build from.
Mate who is a big Baggies fan says Val hasn’t got long to turn it around. Seems crackers for the outside but they don’t like his style of football. Would only put up with it if they were top of the league
