Maybe a chance to see them tonight, weather permitting. Even so, a long shot.

Was the only hit single by my favourite band - Renaissance. They weren't a singles band, a lot of their tracks are very long. In fact I am going to instruct for my funeral to include the full live version of Ashes are Burning which is very apt for a cremation. Just over 23 minutes long with a 5 minute bass guitar solo means it will be a fun event.

My Dad loved that song, great voice.
I was lucky enough to witness the lights, on tour in Sweden, years back. It didn’t last long. The locals burst into massive applause & cheering, which spoilt it a little bit, but still a wonderful experience. :)

I saw the merest wisp when i spent 5 days in the arctic circle a fair few years back now. Not very bright, sadly, the week after, the intensity grew and the lights were on show much more.

But it was still a magical experience almost at the tip of Norway. Stunningly beautiful. Mountains, deep snow, forest, hints of polar night, cosy log cabins and roaring fires. Almost like living in another age.... snowmobiles aside!
