One in 33 french priests and clerics over the last 70 years have been found to be paedophiles according to a French investigation. That is a staggering number.
Just wait till our report gets fully published, it'll get dropped when something else is happening in the news. It'll totally destroy the narrative pushed by some publications that offenders are Muslim
Ignoring the number suggested by the OP, this figure seems just plain wrong and requires further scrutiny.
'The head of an independent commission investigating child sexual abuse in the French Catholic church has said about 3,000 paedophiles have operated inside the institution since 1950. Days before publication of its report, Jean-Marc Sauvé said the commission’s investigations had uncovered between 2,900 and 3,200 paedophile priests or other church members, adding that this was “a minimum estimate”.' https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...aedophiles-operated-in-french-catholic-church
It is a staggering number but it should not shock most people as the Catholic priests have over the years been instrumental in unsavory acts take Irland the priests in some care homes have been accused and found guilty regarding children that make a man sick to his stomach. The Italian priests set up the rat line after the war smuggling the most despicable characters known to man away to South America, there's someat not right with these priests if you ask me.
Correct, value quoted was based on an inaccurate estimate. Further research puts the value at less than 1% (still alarmingly high) but covering school girl fantasies through to child abuse.
They ought to take away the vow of chastity and legalise sodomy. That way they can bum each other and leave the little boys alone.
Its an appalling number and also really bad for the 97% of the clergy who are not, though some of those will have other faults the thing that I find most distressing though are the coverups and pretending it isnt happening approach of the church. If there had been over the years a much harder line taken with any priest found to be abusing others instantly defrocked and handed over to the courts it may well have discouraged some of those who saw it as an easy and safe way to get a supply of victims its a sad fact that in all professions be it the church the police govenrment , acting there are those who take advantage of their position to behave appallingly and know that quite often they will be protected to prevent bad press. its not right but it happens and all we can hope is that enough people speak out to bring them to justice.
Roughly 1% of the population would qualify as a psychopath, and a similar 1% as a sociopath. The figure for psychopathy rises to 3-4% in senior business leaders... It could be that paedophiles are attracted to the lifestyle (perhaps even in a bid to combat their urges) so you get more than in other parts of the community.
Workplace sociopathy is something I'm really interested in. I do believe you are right in suggesting those individuals get drawn in roles which support their mental state. What's also alarming is that recruiters look for these character traits when employing managers. I've been around far too many of these in people within the civil service. I've brought many employment tribunals against such characters. It's only once government solicitors see the issue do they intervene. Most solicitors can't believe we've employed them in the first place. The amount damage they do to employees, the organisation and the tax payer should not be underestimated. We've got a sociopathy in number 10 and most his cabinet meet the criteria. Says a lot about our society.
