Holiday - that wasn’t. Filled up the car last Thursday. Mrs Statis “When do you think everyone will start panicking? “ Me: “Tomorrow” Didn’t really believe that but set off for Flamborough Friday morning with a full tank of petrol, enough to get me there and back. Panic buying obvious around lunchtime. Crisis as Mrs Statis’ mother and brother-in-law taken into hospital with heart attacks. Three days of endless messaging in family. Drive down to Lincoln to drop Mrs Statis off. 250 mile round trip barely touching accelerator. Return on my own to Flamborough. Rain. More rain. Not enough petrol to go anywhere or even get home. Rain. Find petrol. More rain. Walk cliff tops in torrential rain in waterproofs. Discover boots not waterproof. Drop into owners’ bar for a pint. At last things looking up as Forest game is on big screen…. THE END
I want to like this post for the amusing way you told the story. Obviously couldn't like it though as I hope your family are all ok, safe, and well (and you've got plenty of petrol and far less rain to deal with).
I've just learnt something today. I looked at the thread title and instantly thought of Michael Jackson. Then when I went on youtube I found out the song was Bad. And he isn't singing "I'm back".
