I posted on here a couple of weeks ago that I had my works van stolen over night. Once I discovered this I called the police and reported it, i was told an investigating officer would call by at the latest the following day this was a Wednesday morning. The following Tuesday tea time I get a call From SYP so I start asking if they've found the van or is this just an update from the officer investigating the lady replies "oh no I'm not the investigating officer I'm just putting the incident you reported on our system we haven't started the investigation yet!! An investigating officer will make contact in a couple of days" Well that was 11days ago and as of today 17 days since the theft I'm still waiting for a call from the investigating officer. No wonder they never catch many criminals these days they don't even pretend to investigate crime anymore, unless of course you happen to trigger one of those yellow boxes at the side of the road then they are all over you like a rash because that generates a bit of easy cash. So some scumbag nicks my van knowing all too well that unless a copper happens to fall over him when he's spiced up in the town center from the proceeds of selling my van for parts he's never going to get caught.
SYP senior management are the issue and the useless waste of money that is the crime commissioner. Those on the beat are being bashed right, left and centre. They're understaffed, inadequately funded and are basically just putting their fingers in the Dam. Crime is rife, forensic services all run for profit. You've got civvies doing basic police work, the ability to stop repeat offenders early is now non existent. I've been holding onto evidence for them now since the England vs Italy final. Linked to 2 vehicles thefts and a RTC. They've not got anyone to drive to me to pick it up due to other pressing issues like live incidents. Yep they're not great but this is a nation problem, lead by donkeys. Many chief supers don't want to rock the boat and have funds pulled by our home secretary by speaking out. So many moving parts, but ultimately its just another part of the government that isn't working. They don't want Colin Sutton's anymore in the force just cheap youngsters with no experience and limited training. Just so they can quote police numbers, which they cut on a massive scale reducing knowledge and experience on an industrial scale. They now want new Inspctors to have a background in business and budget management, no policing experience required. Says a lot wouldn't you say?
Given the record of SYP I'd go with both suggestions first get rid of the incompetent corrupt organisation that is SYP then give it's replacement the proper funding it will need. I wouldn't give the current organisation anymore money it would be just rewarding massive failure.
Both need doing. would you honestly trust the corrupt leaders of SYP with more money? I wouldn't. They need getting rid of and starting again with money.
You're right but it's amazing how they manage to find so many officers to hang around football stadiums isn't it
They managed to fill most of the hotels in Cornwall with coppers for Boris's jolly in June all on overtime you couldn't move for plod they were busing them in from all over the country.
They are all at Oakwell telling us abart health and safety, traffic management re-arranged times for kick offs and how our fans are the worst in the country so go drink elsewhere pre game.
Arr lass works in a shop at cortonwood.. the other day a lady decided to help herself to a few items without paying.. Against her better judgement arr lass gave chase.. when she got in a car driven by a guy, she stood in front of it, guy then proceeded to keep nudging car forward into her until she ended up on the floor.. Anyway, shes alright.. but still waiting for south yorkshires finest to show up. Happened wednesday. Shes more angry with the police than the thief or the driver.
It's been like that for years. As has been said until we start funding services properly we'll continue to get what we pay for. Come election time though all and sundry will be promising tax cuts to bribe their way into power.
This^ And when will people realise that the ‘party of law and order’ just talk about being tough on crime; you can’t be serious about crime whilst slashing the budgets of every corner of the criminal justice system. Likewise the party of a ‘strong economy’ who lead the poor into believing they’re financially prudent by taking away public services - only half the story; they actually spend more but increase the balance to the rich and big business. but people believe that sh it.
They are quick enough to respond when someone's feelings get hurt by someone saying something to them they don't like. But proper crime like property theft etc that can wait.
It's like every other organisation these days, they prioritise things they think will get them flak if they don't do something and cut corners everywhere else. They should respond to hate crime but they should also respond to every other crime. They don't have the resources and, again as David Currie said, I doubt those at the top are going to jeopardise their fat pensions and gongs by criticising the paymasters. My last job was at Royal Mail. Completely and utterly underfunded. Six day delivery is a complete charade. Yet successive Chief Execs won't tell the government it's unsustainable in case they lose their prospective CBE or knighthood.
