That's literally impossible - for all the reasons already mentioned in this thread. So they're either lying to you, or you're lying to us.
I've care-coordinated people who have schizophrenia and another with progressive MS and they have been knocked back for PIP etc... it is really difficult to jump through the hoops. Anyone suggesting you can can make a decent living or thousands each month out of it is talking ******** and has zero first hand experience of dealing with it. It just doesn't happen. And if you know someone who is, report them if it irritates you so much. They'll be doing something they shouldn't.
And yet this says if you claim pip you’re exempt? https://www.gov.uk/benefit-cap/when-youre-not-affected
Maybe not if you have 3 children on highest rate dla . Having said that, if the children are on that, a lot of that money will be going on their needs, it's not just a case of free money being handed out.
Depends exactly what benefits they’re claiming, if they’re still ESA claimants (or Income Support) then you can be entitled to both a disability premium and a carers premium. That loophole was closed in UC, but there are still a lot of claimants out there who are in that position. Re Benefit Cap; it forces people in the South to be genuinely deep in poverty due to high rent demands. But even these bast ards couldn’t cut support to the disabled or disabled kids, so therein lies the lucrative loopholes that are exploited by some. And whilst some frothing right wingers will complain about those ‘living it large’ on benefits, no one is heartless enough to remove help for disabled kids, so how do you create a perfect system?
This thread is fascinating from the perspective that there’s all this back and forth about whether a family is able to get (let’s be honest a hardly earth shattering) £3-4K a month. Taking aside whether that’s true or not, the only perspective seems to be that this should be reduced to make it fair on the average working family. It’s no wonder that we have so many billionaires in this country when the working man has become so individualistic and blind to their true value that they are incapable of thinking that rather than others having less, perhaps they should have more. Working families struggling to get by so that those at the top can add some 0’s tax free to their income and all those working families can think about is if someone else struggling at the bottom is getting a bit more than them. People just are not good to each other One on one We are afraid We think that hatred signifies Strength That punishment is Love
I wouldn’t swap sitting in front of spreadsheets 9-5 for caring for a disabled child. That said; it’s amazing how many ‘disabled’ children turn 16 and never make a claim for PIP. But therein lies the dichotomy of disability benefits, make them easy to get and the system is open to abuse, tighten the criteria and many deserving people lose out. PIP was designed to make the system fairer and tighten some controls, and those on the left will list thousands of deserving cases that lose out. But it costs more in benefit than DLA, so there’s clearly more winners than losers.
Apologies if this has already been said but weren’t the Eastern European’s who came over doing the low paid manual jobs accused of taking work off our lads and lasses, what a load of ******** that was.
So we’ve gone from this post that sounds like two childless people doing sod all all day and getting a few thousand a month to splash on an expensive house with 2 spare bedrooms and a frivolous brand new car: To this post that explains that there are three disabled children in the house (with all the expense adaptations, utilities - depending on condition - and appointments bring plus someone to look after them) the car is a mobility car by necessity and the mum also needs support. ‘Never worked a day in her life’ ffs, looking after 3 kids full time is a job in itself never mind 3 disabled kids and if she has a registered carer (her husband) then she shouldn’t be expected to work (which she is anyway), so why post it like she’s a scrounger rather than someone with a carer?
What annoys me more is the people dipping into these threads and reading these comments so walk away still thinking people are creaming thousands from the state and perpetuate this myth.
100% this and they’d still have to give the family money to adapt the house, to contribute towards utilities, the car, any specialist equipment. They are by far doing the cheapest option currently.
Some on here would have a heart attack if they saw how much private inpatient psychiatric hospitals charge the NHS for long term care. I'm talking well into 6-figure sums for one patient per year.
