We've booked the first week at the Haven site in Tenby in our motorhome (assuming we ever get the gearbox fixed, but that's another story), I expect it will be then...
Of course we do. And it is understandable that people will argue based upon their own interests. That’s why a competent government, trying to balance the plurality of interests in society, is so important. The fact that we have the current mob in charge, who give the distinct impression that their only interest is in helping their cronies make a killing (no pun intended) is deeply concerning. To say the least.
So you weren't hospitalised? I know you can still get ill even been double jabbed the jabs are supposed to make it less chance of you been seriously ill. We were told that lockdowns were to halt the spread untill a vaccine was found. As far as I can see hospitalisations and deaths are low and another national lockdown would surely leave people questioning the vaccine
Not in favour of Lockdown again unless the NHS is overwhelmed which hopefully it won’t be. But the idea of having a vulnerable people only lockdown is not realistic. Not should we be exploring eugenics which feeds into that. I can see a strong argument for masks and distancing being reinstated in confined spaces going into winter and suspect that is far more likely.
hospitalisations and deaths are higher than this time last year. Happy to help. September 1st 2020 - 2 deaths. September 1st 2021 - 207 deaths. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1190335/covid-19-daily-hospitalizations-in-the-uk/
I have a vested interest in people's mental health and independent businesses. Plus the risk of this two week circuit breaker being without furlough support. Don't for a second try to insinuate that there's a hidden agenda as that would be incredibly unfair and disingenuous.
I suspect the 2 week circuit breaker is just an idea floated to pet media puppets so when the more realistic things like masks and social distancing indoors with vaccination passports for certain events happen it looks better. The ‘Boris’ character manipulates at will.
But they managed to get food and access services during the last lockdown didn't they? And currently as well, right? With the far superior access to testing alongside the 'slash' in costs for PCR tests, increased testing could have been a huge factor in creating a better system of lockdown that gave the vulnerable an added layer of protection whilst keeping enough of the country open so that the economy keeps moving. The analogy of Messi is just hugely inaccurate. I'm not shrugging my shoulders and suggesting an unrealistic idea, I'm saying whatever I quickly type up now will get challenges. But a taskforce team employed to find the solution would attempt to work through those challenges one by one, and in my view could get to a solution far greater than the quick back and forths that take place on a forum.
Fair enough, and I guess things have advanced from last year re testing. I don't know what the solution is, I'm not sure one exists.
The issue is though that when you have two groups, one with no outside contact and the other that will end up super spreading the virus, that little contact between the two groups becomes far more risky. At least that's how it would have been if that's the approach we adopted previously. With the vaccinations it does change things without a doubt. How much that changes things is still a bit of an unknown though.
I know we can't trust this govt as far as we can throw it, but they are flat out denying there are any plans for a lockdown or firebreak so I wouldn't be too concerned.
I don’t think I did. Your agenda is not hidden because it is well known that you work in the hospitality industry, as you have referred to it several times in the past. If you read my earlier post you will have seen that I absolutely recognise that we are all likely to argue in favour of our personal interest. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, Adam Smith was all in favour of it! However, the government has a responsibility to balance the interests of everyone in society (or at least it should have), and if a ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown is deemed necessary in the interests of society as a whole then perhaps that’s what will happen. It’s worth bearing in mind though, that Johnson’s political future may well be fatally undermined if such a thing were to happen.
You've got the first date wrong - it should be 2020. Another 209 today. Well over 1000 premature deaths each week.
As I am also in country that isnt following a "zero covid" policy, from tomorrow we are having social interactions reduced in the office , Govt here panicing a bit after a load of bus drivers created a bit of a peak in cases. This was put down to poor enforcement of following the social distance and mask policies in the workplace. I am hoping that the increased here dont lead to any future lockdowns as I would like to be able to comeback to UK for a trip in the next 6 months and be able to return to Singapore without issue
