The Gomes interview got me thinking..... What division would the Premiership 2 winning team play in were they to join the football tier? I would say a upper mid table championship team.
I think the fact that they haven't won the EFL trophy yet highlights that a team of under 21s struggles against a team if seasoned pros. That being said, Man City u23s tore us to bits in the EFL trophy a couple of seasons back.
But didn’t they falter at the next hurdle? A couple of good displays is in lots of lower league and junior teams
That's kind of what I was saying. A team full of elite youngsters with a lot of skill may beat the lower league teams on their day, but are they consistent enough over a season? But pick out one or two top prospects and stick them in the mesters team and they can look even better.
Twas when we adopted playing out from goal kicks. They completely stuffed us. With that tactic. We never achieved the same. Hate it being re-introduced to the level we are seeing. Disaster waiting to happen.
