Rubbish. They have a statue of the Immortal Eric & the fantastic Midland Hotel. An art deco masterpiece. The countryside round there is amazing.
And getting the next Eden Project! My in-laws all up there, so see a lot of it. A bit run-down in parts, like most seaside towns, but trying so hard. Oh and those views across the bay!!!!
Yes Morecambe does have the countryside ( special view across the bay to the Lakeland hills) , statue of Eric and the Midland but it really is Mexborough by the sea, best avoided. Chuffed they beat Wednesday though!
Yeah I went there last about three years ago as a trip out of Blackpool. Didn't even use up the hour parking before we set off back. Lovely beach and the Eric Morecambe statue and that's it. One really poor arcade on the sea front and very little else.
I went there for a day out roughly 7 years ago. Found it depressing in all honesty! It smacked of a town that's died! Massive seafront/promenade and lovely architecture in places.... but it had a sad aura in my eye
Having worked on heysham 1/2 power station and spending months in Morecambe over a period of 15 years I can confirm it’s an absolute dump full of jobless wonders and pikeys.. Bradford arms and the joiners pubs make the corner pin look like ritz
Yes, a bit of a shame regarding a lot of the town, but you move a few miles out into the country & it's beautiful. Suffered in the same way Blackpool / Fleetwood did from the 70's onwards, as people started holidaying in Spain.
I had a lovely weekend in Morecambe a few years back. There was a great bookshop which I could have spent a whole day in if I'd had the chance. And I really enjoyed my day trip to Carnforth, which has a really good pub right on the platform.
