The big question - do I inform customs when we arrive in Britain? Obviously what she's doing is completely illegal, but if I say something it's quite likely to cause her a lot of bother!
Yep, the rules are there for a (very important) reason. Edit: I’ve done some Googling (results below, but *spoiler* it turns out that there aren’t actually many rules regarding reptiles).
From Googling there’s no problem at all with bringing reptiles into the UK as long as they are accompanied by a letter from a vet saying they are healthy and fit to travel. There’s maybe a limit on numbers you’re allowed and they must be pets and not to sell. So long as she declares at customs it’s completely fine. Who knew? The airline may not be pleased that it’s in the cabin but that’s a different matter.
Beat me to it. All depends on the airline. And as you say. It might well be legal and the lady has got documentation and permission. I reckon that could well be the case.
If the baby tortoise is in the hand luggage does that mean mummy and daddy tortoise could be in her big case? Just a thought.
