I'd say he was signed with the expectation of being in the first team squad, but dropped down to the u23s after Struber took a look. Ismael and Schopp have since agreed.

The other thing that gets me about Kane, is we don't realise how little £1m will actually get you, unless its somebody in the last six months of their contract. Then talk as if he should've matched Mowatt's level straight away.

Kane was out injured for much of the second half of the season when Hull got relegated.
The answer to your second query is very simple. We sign very young players who then come to their peak in years 3 & 4. Therein lies the problem for most supporters who expect our signings to be world beaters from day one.

I feel for the lad. Hope he can find some fitness and start playing again. Whether that’s for us or someone else.

He's played 28 games, played for two head coaches and scored zero goals.

He said part of his game is scoring goals, but we've yet to see it. You don't spend seven figures on someone to nearly a year on still be waiting to see what you spent the money on.

Kane, James and Palmer all played in that defensive midfield position last season. One goal between them.

As I've said earlier. £1m gets you very little straight away in this league, unless there's some mitigating circumstances such as contract length.

He had a groin injury towards the end of last season and in pre-season it flared back up a couple of times. Felt it again when he came on at Bolton but he’s back in training I believe.

If he can get and stay fit, he’ll be a big player for us in this current system that suits his game. Technically gifted, likes to get stuck in and is a really nice lad. He would have been perfect to replace Mally on Saturday for example. If we can maybe add one more in there too, the squad will start to look more balanced. And possibly a wing back although I like Styles there personally.

Morris is a big miss for the next few games but hopefully after the international break we’ve more options up there too.

    Have a great Tuesday!

I think if the subs we bring on against QPR are J Williams, Kane and Morris, we win 3 or 4 nil. Am guessing Kane and Williams will not be risked Saturday, given there's a break after the game, so Saturday could be a difficult one. Can't see Birmingham wanting any part of our pressing game, so might be the sort of game we'd have needed Morris and Oulare available for, I'd take a point.

I suppose it depends on how they get on during training. But whilst I get your thinking and concern regards Birmingham, we ordinarily deal well with direct teams. Bournemouth beat them playing football. Luton got smacked trying to match them up.

    It’s the Championship isn’t it?

I’d take a point too, but it’s very winnable and eight points would be a cracking return from month one all things considered.

He's going bald too so he's suffering enough stress.

I like him, and like Whitey I see a player in there. Personally, my own question on his 'career' with his other clubs was around if he had any sort of injury record.

Yep, I still think we will see big things. Good luck to the lad.

Yes, I'd snatch your hand off for a point on Saturday now if offered. Birmingham will be flying after that big win at Luton.
6 points from the first 5 games given the lack of squad options at the moment would be a good return.

8 points would be excellent, 6 good, 5 would be a bit meh, but not too bad, as long as we get a few more options available after the break.

Steve Davis rarely featured much in the first team for three years after signing from Burnley in 1991 because of injury. That didn't stop him being an integral part of Danny Wilson's side for the next three seasons. Stuart Gray & Steve Agnew both missed over a season with bad injuries. I don't recall fans claiming they were stealing a wage. Personally, I'm certainly not willing to write Kane off, as I believe he's capable of making a positive contribution to our team.

Herbie is starting for the 23s in half an hour. Good minutes for him hopefully.

I think people forget how young he is because he looks about 37

there’s a player in there and I think he will come good for us
