According to reports in Spain, Sergio Aguero has asked to leave Barcelona as he feels promises have not been kept
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/15801447/firebreak-covid-lockdowns-autumn/ Surely he didn't sign for them just because Messi played for them or have a clause in his contract where if Messi goes he can.
They're in a right mess, good on La Liga too. It seems like Griezman, Pique and a couple of other senior players are refusing to leave so they've got no chance of reducing the wage bill in the short term. Messi had it easy there for so long and I expect him to turn up at PSG for a couple of easy years in Ligue 1 before heading to the MLS finish his career.
Football in its current state probably needs a club like that to go under to sort the whole game out. It’s sad to see the game in this state, yet we still have teams in this country paying £100 million for a footballer who was playing league games at oakwell 2 years ago. Crackers. I’d much rather see clubs like that go than teams like Bury!

I heard somewhere that Barca were changing all player contracts and reducing wages. The report said new signings would probably be unaffected but maybe not. They are already in debt and accountable to the community so maybe they are trying to fix problems accumulated. I guess if an employer changes a contract you have the right to reject it.
Still trying to move on Griezmann Dembele and Countinho as they still need to cut costs. Those 3 alone are taking in excess of £100million out of the club per year in wages. Bonkers.
There's bound to be more of this from other clubs in the future. The wages and other costs in football just can't possibly be sustainable forever. A few have got to go under before things start to change.
Sure I read somewhere that Barca and Real have been propped up for years by the local government due to the revenue they generate for their respective cities. Wonder if covid has ended that support
I find it astounding how they can be in the mither so much financially!! They're one of the biggest clubs in the world! And I find it difficult to accept Covid as being one of the reasons for their plight!
