Is this the season Kane NEEDS to step up?

With the Benson signing and Styles 'reconversion' to midfield I reckon Kanes opportunities may be limited.

He needs to grasp every chance he gets imho. Came with great promise and a fee that reflects his ability. At his age he ought to be commanding a regular Championship start. If it doesn't work out we'd never recoup much of our significant cash layout for him with not really having much time on the pitch.

Suppose we'll see if the new gaffers style suits him more than VIs. We'll see. Watch this space.

Hopefully he stays injury free and has a good season.

Be nice if the squad can stay injury free like last season. It hasn't started brilliantly this year with Anderson already being out.

I'm looking forward to the likes of Styles, Kane, Benson & Palmer battling it out for a place in midfield.

We know Styles has an eye for goal and can run with the ball. Hope he can be like Hignett.

I'm not clever or knowledgeable enough to write of our young players off. It's quite possible that any of our young lads in midfield could become the goalscorer you're demanding.

Think we have a really interesting midfield with 4 brilliant young footballers each offering something different. May take the a bit of time to gel but think all will contribute

I quite like Kane, if he can steer clear of injuries then he'll get some game time - probably as sub. Hope he does well.

Every time he played last season, it was like we had 10 men on the pitch. Didn’t do anything

Well he came with a fee.

The ability he has shown has not so far reflected the fee.

    But there's time yet.

Much as I enjoyed last season, It would be nice if our midfielders actually played in midfield for a bit this time around. Last season they had 2 options.

    1) Run back and forth like a lunatic, bouncing between joining the defence and joining the attack.

    2) Stand in the middle of the pitch getting a sore neck watching the ball constantly loop back and forth over their heads

He came on at half time at Bournemouth and completely changed a game that was drifting away from us. Don’t think he’s played since due to injury.

Against Bournemouth away last year Kane came on and was the best player on the pitch.

    Got injured a week later.

I’d rather remember that than other games.

Definitely a player in there and one we should encourage rather than knock.

He’s like a new signing for me.

Mowatt has dozens of games from a highly rated side and has been voted player of the year . a very different animal to Kane. Kane needs to be given more time but so far he’s not up to the job, that’s just how it is.
