Just had a couple of nights stay in Helmsley, Couple of pubs and a micro brewery, really enjoyed it. Apart from partaking in a few pints we went to the National centre for birds of prey, £10 each to get in and well worth the money, saw a flying display which was brilliant about 6 different birds. Come on Lass
Love Helmsley. School trips when a kid. Went there on the last family day trip I had with my dad before he pass away. Not even the bellend in Singapore who refused to.wear a mask , who is from there , can ruin my fondness of the place.
Lovely place but very expensive in terms of property prices and general cost of living. Admittedly, the huge demand for holiday let investments has inflated the market but the average house price is well over double that of Barnsley.
Nice walk from helmsley passes rievaulx abbey then back through the grounds of a big house. 6 or 7 miles, pickup a route guide from tic.
Mi mum lived in Rievaulx for a few years. Gonna go against the grain here, but apart from the micro pub I personally always thought it was massively overrated for a day/night out. Either ten bob millionaires or chavs. Food massively overpriced too.
Little owl is as it's name suggests little. About the size of a thrush. If you're lucky you might see one on a fence post edge of a field. We went to the international bird of prey centre, possibly Hereford. Tiny owls to condors. If you've got kids Warwick castle is a great day out. Interactive stuff birds of prey displays, worth the admission.
