So did I. In Tenerife with the Rochdale team returning home a couple of years after leaving Barnsley. I never spoke to him, but I stood next to him with my Barnsley FC baseball cap on talking to the missus in a very broad Barnsley accent. He never said anything to me
I crossed paths with Oasis (minus Liam) in a random air conditioned shopping centre in downtown Kowloon, Hong Kong. Me and the wife only went in to get out of the heat and humidity at the time.
The world’s tallest mountain is Mauna Kea in Hawaii, 33,000 feet from its base on the ocean floor. It’s a shield volcano and getting taller because it is so heavy it sinks the ground below it. We went up it to see the observatories. Very interesting and recommended, only 13,000 odd feet above sea level. Everest is the world’s highest mountain and people think I’m claiming I’ve stood on that and look at me with disbelief. Measured from the middle of the Earth the highest peak is somewhere in Central America.
I was given the penthouse suite at the Hilton in Cardiff, given VIP treatment and asked for my autograph twice because they thought I was a famous musician.
My son got invited to a sportsmanship evening at metrodome after someone dropped out (he's not into football at all). Not long after they got there, he returned from the bar with some drinks. He said "a bloke at the bar just told me he's got a world cup winners medal". When they looked it was Alan Ball!
About 5 years ago I worked in Doncaster selling cars on Wheatley hall road. One day an old couple walked on the used car pitch so out I went to try my best and sell them a car. As I turned around everyone was looking out of the window at me and them and I had no idea why, it turned out to be Barry chuckle and his wife in the end I sold him a car he was a lovely bloke and when handing the car over to him he even did the old ‘to me to you ‘while handing him over the keys!
