...but he deserves credit for sticking to his guns. He's under the greatest scrutiny of any England manager in history what with loads of hype, media scrutiny, internet and social media abuse and he just gets on with what he believes is the right formation and tactics. He deserves credit even if they're crap against Denmark and/or in the final. Well done to him for his attitude. N.B. He's still a borefest merchant.
I think I agree. He seems a really nice bloke, and some of the interviews he's given to the press are really good. I wish we were a little bit more attacking, but we've just won 4-0 in the Quarter Finals of the euros. Something that Capello or Sven could never do. Good luck to him.
That's more like it Gareth...let the lads off the leash and look what can be achieved... I'm one of boregates biggest critics but credit where credits due...the lads did well tonight ....never looked like loosing....controlled the game well thought Stones Maguire Walker and Shaw were solid ....
Start with a back 5 again at the semi, Denmark like to flood the midfield. Try and control the tempo and create some chances. We've got plenty on the bench then to put the game to bed. If Italy and Spain go to extra time, and we can do it inside 90 mins. With a short turn around and they've both already played 120 mins it'll impact em.
I really like the bloke. I'm still not sure we need two defensive-thinking midfielders, when we've the likes of Grealish and Foden to call upon, and we are a little too patient for my liking (in terms of how I like my football), but you cannot argue with the results we've garnered during his entire stewardship. It's an incredibly talented group of players he's got, with another batch on their way through beneath this one, but you've still got to get the results. I've really enjoyed re-engaging with England over the last four years or so, and I think a lot of what he's done that should be commended is done out of view. He's clearly helped foster a really positive and all-inclusive environment. It's key at national level. Like I say, I really like the bloke. I know hundreds and hundreds of people in the game and I've never heard anything but good things about him. Tonight was outstanding. Denmark will be a really stiff test though. Lovely though isn't it, to be in another semi final? It's coming home.
