I know the BBC is hardly flavour of the month with a lot of people but they are capable of producing a brilliant piece of drama like this. Well written and some great acting from Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. Stephen Graham is one of the finest actors of his generation. Up there with Michael Sheen as one of our best character actors - nailed every part he has played.
Never been a Sean Bean fan but think he was excellent in Time, watched them on iplayer a couple of weeks ago.
Me neither to be honest - really liked him in Patriot Games with Harrison Ford but not any of his other stuff. He is excellent in this though and yes shame about his team
Just watched the last one. Jeez that was not a pleasurable experience, but by the same token so glad I watched it.
Nobody does British drama quite like the BBC to be fair. Head and shoulders above any of the other channels
Unforgotten was the 1st ITV drama we watched in years. And Innocent recently were both brilliant. But generally I can stand about 20 mins of most ITV drama.
Anyone here done time? I'd always believed that I'd never cope in prison & that drama just reinforced it!! Brilliant and brutal.
I'd hate it, even something as simple as not being able to decide to make a drink when you want one or go outside in your garden to have your breakfast. Plus I'm not really that keen on routine. That's before any of the brutality or violence comes into play.
No but close to someone that did. Someone brought up well, good family, cooked meal on the table every night, family holidays abroad etc. Got involved with the wrong crowd & ended up doing a year inside in his late teens. Most harrowing experience of his life. Made him realise how lucky he was. Loads of people in there who could barely read & write, lads who had been in & out of care homes most of their life, no family or real friends, plenty of people who didn’t mind been in prison believe it or not. Basically a lot of people who barely had a chance in life & he’d gone & joined them by been an idiot. Kept his head down & was out on the earliest possible date. Vowed never to go back & hasn’t. I don’t think he was even in a bad one (if you can say that about a prison). He was local - Donny & Hull & made mates pretty quickly in both so he had a better experience than most but your still in prison staring at 4 walls away from family & friends most of the time. I couldn’t hack it either.
I thought it was a brilliant drama , I thought it was the best performance I have seen from Sean Bean & Stephen Graham is an outstanding talent , its a toss up between Graham & Tom Hardy for my favourite current actor , the script was superb & there was so much reality it should be shown in schools to highlight the perils of going down the wrong path , well done to everyone involved in this production .
I'm not sure how much character acting Bean needed to do in this one. He's pretty much like that in real life isn't he.
