Went today and saw the old station, locos and tracks in a ruinous state.
Last time I was in the area they had laid track toward Cortonwood and got new crossings down.
    What the flip has happened?

The people who operate it handed the lease back to presumably the council before Christmas and 'removed' a lot of the rolling stock a few months ago.

Looks like it could be finished

It needs Pete Waterman to get down there with his steam engine; and Kylie and Seneta.

Given it was funded by passenger journeys in the holidays Covid probably killed it.

That’s a shame, done some voluntary work up there, we fettled one of the Engine houses, and put one of those old workmen’s transporter carriages back on the tracks for it to be renovated.

Pretty sure you are right about COVID and funding. The maintenance costs for steam railways are enormous. Watched the travel show this morning because it featured Yorkshire. Amongst other things it covered the North York’s railway. It has only kept going through the pandemic through special on line funding appeals and I think it said that it’s running costs were something like £7 million a year.

    Have you seen it?
Locked off behind Doyle security fences, weeds everywhere, track almost invisible due to weeds.
It is a very sad looking shambles.
