That's what I thought, but even Heimlich's son questions it according to the article. Not the one I actually read, which was scathing about Heimlich but in a similar vein. https://www.foxnews.com/health/dr-heimlichs-son-doubts-effectiveness-of-famous-choking-maneuver
It’s integrated as part of our Immediate life support training at work, & that’s the NHS! So it’s good enough for me. Back slaps first though.
It does work. What was discredited was that, heimlich convinced everyone that slapping a person's back did more harm than good so everyone should jump straight in with the Heimlich maneuver when in reality the Heimlich maneuver is more dangerous so should only be done after trying the others first. Cough, back slaps, Heimlich maneuver. Start with the gentle attempts first and work up to the Heimlich but if all else fails go for it.
Doesn’t say it doesn’t work. Only that there may be better methods. Peter Heimlich, son of the late doctor known for the Heimlich maneuver, believes the method that's credited with saving thousands of lives may not be the most effective way to save someone from choking.
Couple of apps that everyone especially first aiders should have.. (from google play) Staying alive app - shows locations of publicly accessible defibs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobilehealth.cardiac St johns ambulance first aid app https://www.sja.org.uk/get-advice/free-first-aid-app/
That's a good point, so presumably the feed has its own director and they have literally said some thing along the lines of "let's go to the close up of his wife"
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/eriksen-cardiac-arrest-doctor-muamba-b1864833.html I suspect the expert will be right. Muamba didn't play again and this reminded me of then. More importantly he's still around. It's no wonder Denmark lost after coming back to finish the game under those circumstances.
It's not been confirmed what happened yet, and it's incredibly crass to speculate about someone's health and career when the facts and prognosis aren't known.
I see there are people trying to blame the Covid vaccine so the Danish had to effectively breach patient confidentiality to point out he hasn’t been vaccinated and doesn’t have Covid. Some won’t believe them though Great news he is making such good progress. Really hope they can find out what caused it
