It does make you wonder how some get so much wrong when you see a referee as tonight get nearly almost everything right .
Agree completely. He was fantastic. I texted a friend to say the same. He was brilliant. That split second decision for the handball and then to communicate it to the players. Superb. And looking after the well being of the players, stopping the game when he thought they were genuinely hurt. Brilliant performance.
He even made me chuckle at one point, pulling Rudinger to his feet with one hand, while showing him the yellow card with the other.
Agree, no-one was going to influence/con this ref tonight. He was approachable to the players, explained his decisions and had a ‘ genuine’ smile. Well done ref.
Saw after the final whistle how much the game meant to him as well. He was in tears just because he'd officiated the European Cup Final; he hadn't won any trophy. That's the kinda folk we need reffing. Smart, passionate, but absolutely fair.
The goalie threw himself on the floor for the goal outside the box. he handled the ball why didn't VAR look at it and intervene. thought that was the point of it
