Our fans, or our owners, given the amazing season that we have had? Our owners put their faith in Dane, who I see as the architect of much of this. VI's appointment & the January signings were the turning point. The club failed to communicate when they took over, but have made some shrewd decisions in hindsight.
All of us its been a fantastic season.did we make the jan signings to make a push for promotion or to make sure we stayed in the league how ever anyone answers that will tell you if they were suprised or not.i think we signed them to make sure we stayed up.
Will be painful to miss out on getting a shot in the finals, but on reflection no one expected us to be anywhere near the play-offs. Phenomenal turnaround in 12 months.
I have been pleasantly surprised, I expected us to be top half but nowhere near as good as we have! I have really enjoyed the season ( apart from the empty stadiums) and I’m not just saying this but even if we fail in the play offs I won’t be too disappointed as long as we retain a strong core of the squad along with big Val, because if he can bring in more players to his specification I think we would go from strength to strength..
That is the is absolutely bang on the money, it's Vital we don't lose too many of this squad, from the tea lady to the C.E.O.
This is a one time shot. I think even keeping the squad together we wouldn’t better this season. Our unknown quantity factor is gone now more and more teams are finding ways to combat this style.
Agree with this. Progress in football isn't always a linear thing. But let's worry about that once Saturday has been and gone and we know if we still have a chance of promotion or not.
The fans who are most surprised are the ones who are convinced this group of players should be battling relegation, rather than being in the Play Offs and are convinced we'll be doing exactly that next campaign, whether that be in the Premier League, or the Championship!
Really - You think they were signed to ensure we stayed up when at the start of the Window we were in 8th place with 34 points from 22 games having given everyone 6 games start Only way we were going down was if we had sold the core of the team like we did when we sold Hourihane the Snake etc under patrick - I think it was just an attempt to build the team and ensure we were in playoff contention - but also be in a much better position to start next season. If we dont go up we will lose Mowatt and Dike and probably sell one other top player but bring in a few new replacements and go for top 6 and quite possibly top 2 next season.
I'm not surprised at all I expected the play offs right at the start of the season - I just forgot to tell everyone
Some Sporting Life journalist at the start of the season recommended an each way bet on us for the title at 50/1.
Well we dont bother with loan signings, every signing we make is to improve the sqaud we lost a few beginning of jan so all of a sudden we still needed 16pts having played 25games, was it hull last yr, we won them 7 on trot but to me it still seemed to take forever to get to 50pts.
I might be thick but how can you have an each way bet to finish !st ?, you can have an each way bet to get promotion but to win the title you can only bet to win.
'no one expected!!!' - hold on - I for one did expect to be in the play-offs and to get promotion. Last September put a bet of £20 for Barnsley to get promoted. ( S*** odds 10/1.)
To be honest I don't think we're a 1 trick pony, we have some talent here & along with all we have at present, we can turn our hand to anything. We have a young squad with another years experience at this level. We really need to stay together, I believe next year could be really special in my opinion.
