    That saying "Sweet Fanny Adams" has quite a shocking historic tale to it. Fanny Adams was a young 8 year old girl who was killed and mutilated/dismembered in the 1860s - some parts were never found, and navy slang at the time came to use the term to describe "bad" stews...

    Think you may have misread that bit! He spat at her at his home, and was convicted during the same trial. Not that it makes what he did any better. Sounds like a total scumbag.
