Not much incentive to get promotion if you're not even allowed a shot at the league above imo. Key will be getting that experience and mixing it into the team that get promoted.
Last time we got in the top flight, we bought some really poor foreign players in the close season to replace a number of the lads who got us there. Doubt that would happen if we ever did get there again.
Thing is Helen, some players are good enough for the champ but not the prem, it's no disrespect it's just fact. You don't need to see them playing in the prem to know they're not good enough for it. Take Chaplin for instance, runs his blood to water but you honestly can't say he's worth a shot in the top flight. And, unfortunately, that's the case with the majority of our current squad. If you gave this entire a squad a chance in the prem we'd have missed out on a full transfer window and by the time the next one rolled round we'd find ourselves cut adrift. Even if one or two experienced heads were brought in, it wouldn't be enough. Premier League is a quantum leap in term of quality. Yes, you can argue that we did well against Chelsea, but can you seriously see us doing that week in week out with this squad? It's honestly nothing against the current squad, they've worked nothing more than miracles this season and I couldn't be more proud of them, even if we don't go up.
I would just leave it to Val , he will know what style of play he is going to play to meet the challenge & he will also know who he trusts to be able to take the step up , he will therefore move the players on who he believes will not hack it & strengthen where he feels necessary , I also think he will make allowances for potential when making his choices .
I am not sure why you come to that conclusion , he is a very clever player & certainly has a very sharp football brain , his leadership & quality have earnt him the right to choose whether to stay with us or move on, but should we make the promised land I for want him to be leading the team out & wearing the captains armband .
Just how I see it. As I said, the entire team has played out of their collective skins, but every player has a ceiling.
I respect what you are saying about the team playing out of their skins , however I feel to suggest that Mowatt who as arguably been our best player this season is slow in the brain regarding football ,is an insult to say the least .
I didn't say he was slow in the brain regarding football! I said he's probably a yard too slow for the prem with his feet and his brain. Don't try and twist what I said, thank you.
I am not twisting anything, I read your post & replied to it as I understood it, 2 too slow for the prem with his feet & brain " thats what you said
But you said I said that he was slow in the brain regarding football. Which I didn't say. He's a great player at this level.
Before writing off our team go & have a look at other teams that have gone up & have spent decent money bringing in new players only to go back to playing the players that got them up. Bournemouth spent fortunes on new players yet the lads that started regularly for a few seasons in the prem were players like Cook & Daniels that got them up. It’s about far more than talent. A lot of footballs about team cohesion & team spirit. We should know from experience that every time we break a team up & sign lots of new players in one go it takes a long time for the new lads to gel.
