Did anyone really think we’d be in fifth place, 68 points from 40 games and looking at the play-offs? Seriously over achieving and dreaming of the play-offs. Average two points a game we end up with the same number of points achieved under Danny in 97. Really enjoying the games in what has been a strange year in all respects.
Not this call sign @JLWBigLil, I absolutely love this team and club, gone over and above what was expected this season
I only refer to that in terms of the financial resources at the club’s disposal. Beating teams on payrolls of more than 10 times our own is definitely over achieving.
I do my fair share of shouting at the screen most games, both with joy but also frustration when a pass goes astray or a chance is wasted . I shouldn’t do it but I also criticise players sometimes but I’ve no right to do that. This experience will do young lads like Palmer and Styles, and the rest of the team, the world of good. If we still have them next year they’ll be even better players for it. I therefore resolve never to criticise any one of these wonderful talents that we have.
Negativity bias seems to have been adopted as the de facto intellectual standpoint. I blame Red Rain. A disproportionate focus on the negative aspects of our play does not make those highlighting it somehow enlightened. We all see, we just choose to celebrate and support the positive aspects of our play, that far outweigh the negative. The evidence for this is irrefutable.
The pitches at this time of year usually make neat passing football incredibly difficult anyway. Earlier in the season we played some great football in the opposition half, and occasionally we still do. We get the ball forward quicker and don't overpass amongst the back three anymore, which is working really well. The press is key though, as our intensity out of possession unsettles our opponents and forces them to hit long balls.
Agreed mate. If someone would have said we'd be in a Championship playoff position last July, they'd have been carted off to the loony bin! You Beautiful Reds, and I love Valerien Ismael
Not good enough for a few of the boo boy boneheads on here. I mean, let’s face it, Man City would regard that as commonplace and they’ve spent nowt compared to the millions we’ve splashed art
It certainly is, I was thinking yesterday as I had sports news on in the background how envious many of the chairman/owners of the championship clubs most be. Sinking millions into wage bills and seeing little old Barnsley where we are.
