Luton were a breath of fresh air today. Attempting to play football and not haranguing the referee every time there was a decision to make or winning academy awards for making minor injuries into death roes. Also think we played some good football in their half today, especially second half when they tried to play football instead of hoofing it long. Just shows how it takes two teams to make a game.
Only because they had nothing to play for. They were one of the worst for it on the first game of the season. Then Collins should have been sent off for the foul on Walton before he scored the winner.
i still don’t know how our fans can’t see what we do. Yes we play it long but we are as good as the majority of teams at playing football (if not better) in the oppositions half. That’s the key point, play the ball. where it hurts them not us. Its a simple concept really. we saw how well tippy tappy worked out for us last year, I wouldnt swap for anything
not sure I see that as much as others tbh. for me we lose possession far too often, far too easily, in the opposing half. I think what masks that is how quickly we get it back in the opposition half when we do lose it. then again if we were as good in possession as out of it, we'd be Man City
They were decent today in my opinion, especially second half. I did think it was abit harsh on them us going 2-0 up when they were having the upper hand at the time. It would’ve been even harsher us going 3-0 up. It was an uncomfortable watch when they made it 2-1 but we have to be proud we saw that one out. maximum points against a decent side, I wouldn’t be surprised if they turn over Reading in a few games time.
Had a look on their forum and there is a Nathan Jones out thread! A lot of their fans really unhappy, said the performance from minute 1-90 was shocking.
I thought they were poor. We weren’t at our best, but for 80 minutes they barely troubled us. Until they threw men forwards towards the end their only opportunities had come from hitting us on the break in the channels. But the number of times they were needlessly offside was criminal.
I thought they played well for about 20 minutes our of the 90. I thought we were the better team for the other 70. 3-0 wouldn't have flattered us, but 2-1 wasn't an unfair result. I do think we play excellent football in and around the opponent's box? But it depends on the opposition tactics as to how good we look.
Agree completely. We are 100 mile an hour without the ball which is fine, but we need to relax a bit in possession and have a bit more quality.
Comfortably mid-table in the Championship on a bottom end of L1 budget, new stadium in the offing and a side that do actually try and play a bit of football. They should be careful what they wish for....
