Really? There is no rule specifically about two footed tackles - the rule talks about serious foul play endangering opponents or with excessive force. That challenge had neither. He didn’t catch him (or barely caught him), the ref sent him off as their lad rolled over like he’d been shot and his teammates all went round the ref demanding it. He knew he’d given a softish penalty, Ainsworth had been in his ear at half time - and so he was always going to give them a big decision one way or another, he’s too weak a ref not to do it.
Must say Helen I've never been a fan of Mr Holloway, but found myself agreeing with him 100% tonight. Although there was contact on Helik you have to ask, was it enough to warrant a penalty?. I've watched it times over and personally find it very hard to justify. As for the Mowatt incident. A pro footballer knows when he's transgressed and Alex Mowatts reaction spoke volumes. Yes he went in hard, but not with the intention of harming his opponent who made an absolute meal of it. I will be very surprised if the red card decision is not overturned. In days of yore, Mr H has very rarely praised us as a Club but tonight his comments were magnanimous in that he liked the way we played and tipped us for a place in the play offs. As usual, on that topic, we must remain focused by literally taking each game as it comes, starting with Wednesday at the weekend and see where we are after our final game against Norwich in May. Another pleasing result tonight, so well done to all those who played a part. Thank you Vi and team and the whole squad for your efforts on our behalf. Certainly making the experience of being a Reds supporter a very pleasing one at this present time.
Seen again in slo-mo, never a card let alone a red one. No contact on their player and both feet grounded. Crap decision and hopefully will be overturned.
Saw it in real time. Wasnt sure. Seen it again in slow mo. Its not malicious nor is it a stamp..the player rolling over 3 times didnt help yhe situation. Worth an appeal.as its certainly not frivolous.
