There's an argument to say that at 5/6 in a place Chacun Pour Soi (3.05) is still massive value. His best is beyond that of anything else in this race. I also think Kilcruit (4.50) should be odds on, yet Bet365 and Unibet still go 13/8. Monkfish should be another good thing in the 1.55 but his price went long ago.

In the first (1.20) I reckon good chances could be given to four of the seven, and I make the Coral Cup (2.30) and the Grand Annual (4.15) too competitive, so I'll be sitting those three races out - although watching with interest.

One of the most interesting races of the day is the Cross Country (3.40), because for me the front two in the betting can both be taken on. Easysland is favourite, but will surely not be suited by the drying ground, and he ran poorly here in November on his only previous start of the season. Tiger Roll, to my eyes has 'gone'. So what beats the favourites? I take Some Neck (10/1 generally) who won over course and distance here in December, and who now has Richard Johnson's assistance in the saddle. But I'm also going with Balko Des Flos (16/1 with Paddy) who takes a class drop here, won't mind the better ground (winner on Good) and who has the inestimable assistance of Rachael Blackmore.

Good luck guys and gals, and COYR!

Another day of frustratingly small fields.

1.20 - Bob Olinger is probably the best bet of the day here. Spanked Blue Lord last time out who would have finished an honourable second to Appreciate It yesterday. Bravemansgame won a soft ground Challow and probably won't be quick enough. The Mullins horse (can't spell it) won't over 2m 6f on soft last time out too - and the form is questionable imo. One at a bigger price is Keskonrisk - who finished behind Appreciate It last time out.

1.55 - Monkfish impossible to oppose. Big Breakaway can't jump. Sporting John in the wrong race. Nothing else good enough.

2.30 - More like it! Too many horses to mention, but pick something at a big price that's either an improving novice or bring high class graded form to the table.

3.05 - Chacan should win on all known form, but it's never run at Cheltenham before and the Festival does strange things to horses. Put The Kettle On won the Arkle here last year, beating a few in here who face her again. Sceau Royal will enjoy the quicker ground.

Not interested in the Cross Country or the bumper, but Us And Them in the Grand Annual is 1lb lower than when finishing 3rd in the race last year. Let's just say that his handicap mark has been "looked after".

    1.20 - Bob Olinger
2.30 - Thomas Darby and Shang Tang
3.05 - Put The Ketlle On
    4.15 - Us And Them.

A day for favourites I think overall.
However, the 2.30 is so wide open that anything that runs well on the day could win it. With this in mind I've had a small each way on Dans Le Vent. Will get the trip on this ground and is consistent. Will be held up quite likely as well off what is likely to be a strong pace. Totally under the radar. At 120.0 on Betfair and 6 places I had to have a punt. You heard it here first

Edit: Actually 7 places available on 2.30
Also 4.15 Ibleo each way - 6 places available

Blue Sari has been backed in from 25's in the 2:30. Bravemansgame (1:20) might be a worth an e/w punt soon if it continues to drift.

Bob Olinger in the first to give Rachael Blackmore another winner.

The 120 is just the win price on the exchange though isn't it?

Yes the different place markets offer different prices at the moment. 7 places on Dans Le Vent (my horse) is 7.6 at the moment. As I say, I had to have a small each way on that

Yeah I like that angle - a few quid on the win at 120 and a little more on the place.

    Good luck.

Aye you too. Bit of a lottery sometimes. As an aside I always bet like that i.e. small amount on win then more on best place market. If my tip wins its a bonus. If it places ill make a profit. I had 2 on the win at 120 and have got 8 riding on the place (if that makes sense). Probably get tailed off now.....

I've got a Yankee on: Bob Olinger, Monkfish, Chacun Pour Soi and Kilcruit.

It's offering me about 7/4 on my total stake to cash out... I never get 4 horses to come in, but these are all favourites... should i take the money and save the good luck for the Reds vs Wycombe game later...

careful for those just using the skybet offer, thursdays race will only refund if it finishes 2nd 3rd or 4th
only 8 runners but still a risk for those just wanting a free punt
