Mutual agreement apparently. Pledging to keep the squad together in readiness for next season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56387640
Surely Wilder must have walked...there’s no way they’d sack him and give it to Hecky would they? Shirley not. edit... just seen above answers
Yes probley just a cheap option untill end of season when they can find a suitable replacement for wilder. Not many manager would want to take it on at minute and add a relegation to c.v
Very easy to fathom for me. He was backed to the hilt, held out for months on contract offer, said it was never it any doubt, then fkd off to Leeds three days later.
Today is a sad day for everyone at this great football club," said Blades striker Oli McBurnie on social media. "Thank you for everything you did for me and my family gaffer, I will never forget it. "We truly shared some fantastic times on and off the pitch together. Sorry we let you down in the end." think it sums it up. Madness.
Let's hope Hecky's enjoying his football again with a smile on his face because my goodness those last few months of his Oakwell tenure were painful. Every interview he had a face liked a slapped arse.
Makes perfect sense. Already down so use coaches within the club to tick them over until the new season & then someone can come in with the slate wiped clean.
Interesting that Alan Knill (Wilder's long time trusted assistant) is staying on to support Hecky. I thought he may leave the club with Wilder. Also joining the new coaching team is former AFC Bournemouth manager Jason Tindall!
