Are we a pretty team, like we were under Wilson 94-98? No, we're not. But that doesn't mean we're not entertaining. Watching the way we work, seeing Woodrow as the last defender (Woodrow FFS!), watching us make tackle after tackle, where we try to win the ball, where we don't just lazily take the man out, where we try, and succeed, to fairly get the ball back, and work so hard to do it, it's fascinating. I haven't seen a team play football like this before. It's new, and it's professional, (it's sod all to do with me but) I feel so proud of them. They're putting the professional back into professional football.

And then, to top it off, we have that bit of skill: Mowatt feints then pops a cross on someone's head, Morris turns on a sixpence and I'm cross eyed he's that quick, Brittain gets to the byline and drills it across or Victor skins a defender with strength and pace. We're playing like all those experienced Championship sides who didn't seem to do all that much but always comfortably beat us. And now we're doing it. We control games, they're ours, from the first minute to the last, we own them. And it's only my nerves that sometimes doesn't see it.

Great post Jay, couldn’t put it any better, completely reflects my thoughts. There’s something unique about this team, squad.

It was a brilliant game to watch. I didn't think we were ever really in any danger, but going in search of that 2nd always made us susceptible to getting caught out. Lovely stuff when we win.

Best team since 99/00. Different no nonsense football but equally pleasing on the eye. We play neat one touch football in the right areas.

Second half I thought we were awesome and never gave Stoke a sniff the days of being bullied by the opposition are long gone under big Val and it’s great to see.

This team won't get bullied. I'd fancy us to take on any team XI versus XI gang fighting. We've some big lads.

The crying shame is that we won’t get to see a single game this season; proud but so sad.

Quite often all I hear on the commentary is that mental clap he does. I would have thought the players have nightmares about that in their sleep.

Sane? I missed most of the second half as I had to go out for a walk round. God knows what I'll be like come April and May if we keep this up?

Stop making us sad J. That is the thing in the background. I miss the No 7 so much I could cry right now. I nearly am. Football days are the best days. I sit with my dad and his wife and my nephews and nieces. And on our row people who we've sat with for years. JLWBL sits next to me, but I know everyone on the row. And the 7 rows in front and 7 rows behind, 10 seats either side. Nez and his family are 3 rows in front, one of his sons is named after me. He'd be loving this season. Everyone knows me because I'm a big mouthed arsehole. I'm usually late and miss a goal and everyone laughs at me as I stumble in. And after the game I go to the No7 and I know everyone in there. I could sit at every and any table in the pub, and do every week, or stand at the bar and speak to the bar staff, or outside to the bouncer. Or wander across to the pub across the road for a mid drink drink with friends across there. And I haven't seen any of these people for a year. Or my family. I'm here in this house alone, every day. And I'm very sad. The team are making it better.
