Often here we point out teams for being poor. They are a decent side. We kept them quiet. Are we coming to realise its because we are a good team and kept a decent inform side silent most of the game? Players like big vic...freiser...others too. Might not be our massive assets but they are part of that solid element that everyone needs in the club. Sorry guys...been a follower since 2000 2001...I've just never seen a barnsley side like this. Back then we had more proven players who we paid decent money now we have up and coming players and a few established. Enjoy calum styles while he is here because in 5 years he will be a established premiership player.
I've seen Barnsley sides play better looking football but I've not seen one so well drilled organised and effective as this one. Perhaps more impressive given the age of the team (although playing in empty grounds has probably helped). We're so hard to play against, especially if you want to pass it around from the back. Even tonight we showed we can defend against more direct stuff too. A little more fluidity up front and we'll be the complete package.

I love that we're no longer pushovers. This team give as good as they get if not more. The desire, commitment, discipline and organisation is great to see! We're a good side. Ok the football is direct at times but who cares! We played a possession based game under Struber but were soft as **** and got bullied a lot of the time.
I agree, they tested us first half and our defence snuffed them out, no team will like playing us at the minute, Big Val has put a real belief and togetherness in the side that is getting better and better.
Well we all know what would have happened had they decided to try and pass it about. They'd have been squeezed to death by 'the press'. We must be a nightmare to play against. Never stop running, working, tackling and we intercept so many passes. Whilst broken play doesn't do us favours, other teams just suffer because of it.
Even the Stoke fans are being complimentary, although it was this comment that made me laugh. Even Dignitas couldn't assist Vokes....why bring him on for fletcher and play the same hoof and hope tactics....its boring and never works.
Totally agree. I can remember us losing to Ipswich in the play off final in 2000 but hadn't really followed any of the season up to that, given I was only a nipper. This is the first time I've seen us competing at the top end of the table in the Championship, this late into the season at least. I'm absolutely loving how we're playing.
The change in stature of the team is striking. This must be the biggest Barnsley team I’ve ever seen (probably talking rubbish) but the physicality of Sibbick, Helik, Anderson, Halme, Morris, Dike and Solbauer make a big difference when playing the physical teams in the league. These boys are not going to get bullied off the field. Add in the flair of Mowatt, Styles, Palmer and Woodrow we have a side no team is going to fancy playing against. Did I mention I thought we’d get promoted after beating Stoke last time around?
Must admit i couldn’t believe it when they took Fletcher off he’s certainly a better player than that Vokes.
