I have no problem when we discuss football. In fact I enjoy our discussions about the game, and you are right that it is all about opinions. Where I struggle, and I have to say, you do not usually do this, but where I struggle is when people make it about me. When you say things like, "you have already made your mind up", you have gone away from football opinion, and you are making a point about me. I'm sorry, but it never fails to wind me up when posters on here do that. No-one on here knows me. They are just guessing..
Every time we post on this forum, we are all allowing others to build up an impression of who we are and what we believe in.
I"m being entertained & I am very happy at the progress we have made & the style of all energy winning football suits me fine
Numerous people - strangers to one another- feed back their views about how you go about things and it goes in one ear and out of the other. People will draw their conclusions from that. If you don't want to be criticised, don't post reports on a forum. Don't communicate on a debating platform. That is what it is meant for. Not "this is fact and you are all wrong and too stupid to comprehend". It is about accepting what people say sometimes and learning from others, not being arrogant and thinking everyone else is wrong bar me. Nor is it an ego massaging exercise. For what it is worth, I love the level of passion you have for studying and writing, but I hate the way you go about it with the snide comments about the general football fan and their inferior intellectual capability.
I'm really happy with this season, the style of play and the improvements with recruitment. I hope we can build on this and not sell the crown jewels off, so still need time to be fully convinced but it is looking positive.
Yes, there are times when we end up in a game of head tennis, and some long balls look particularly aimless. But, as with any system or style of play, the better we play, the better it looks. Much prefer this style to watching us park the bus, or watching us be easily picked off like before lockdown.
On the pitch yes. Off the pitch no idea. They have never told us about plans to improve anything on that side of it bar the “fanzone” now we don’t have a clear guide on what the plan is either with the ground or staying at Oakwell long term.
I hardly see any games as obviously I can't go to matches, and I don't use iFollow. However, I'm easily pleased in terms of entertainment, which for me is 99% results based. I can follow a game using nothing more than live text commentary and still enjoy an entertaining evening/afternoon if we win. For me, this season has been superb entertainment and credit is due to all the football and media staff at the club. Well done!
I hope we dont change at 50 points, im loving it now and so excited about Dike and Morris coming in. I cant wait for each game and i love the effort commitment and talent from our team. I cant get through watching most Premier league or foriehn games pass side pass back pass psss pass pass forward pass back pass side pass side throw in repeat. Get in at em, chase it down, win it back, get it in the box have a go goal you reds.
When multiple people form the same opinion about you based on your own words and actions, but you don’t like that they have that opinion about you, perhaps you should look at why that opinion was formed rather than saying that people don’t know you and they can’t have an opinion?
I think this post has turned into the best one I've read on this forum. The amount of thoughtful intelligently written posts surpasses anything I've seen before and even the disagreement between posters have been civil. Clearly progress has been made in all avenues. COYR
The discussion appears to have widened somewhat from the OP! Getting back to it. I don’t think the simple way you have The Plan illustrates the issues. No-one could disagree with the sentiment you set out ‘Sustainability off the field and progression on it’ but the issue these past three years has been in the way the Owners have carried that out in terms of the football decisions they have taken, as well as some crassness in their off the field behaviour and comments (about Coaches, players and each other). It appears that there is more flexibility in player recruitment- success. Well done the Owners. It may be that we can hold onto our better players when it looks like we might be successful- jury still out. It may be that when we sell players, (as I recognise we have to) we get a proper value for them - Rarely done that imo. It’s good to see us winning, and I don’t have any issues with the ‘style’ of it but that doesn’t mean everything is rosy in the Garden and all the evidence of the past is forgotten. So, in a rather long winded way, the jury is still out for me.
