Is something i have read about us by a small percentage of our own "fans"in recent weeks. Would love to understand the comparison. So if anyone would like to.put their money where there mouth is and have a little wager on us going down. £50 says we wont. Paid to any charity of choice. I'll wait.
The negativity during Jan was hard for me to understand. We literally had the hardest run of fixtures you could have this season and we are still in touch of the play offs after basically being relegated last season.
Can’t wait till we get 50 points , then Big Val can unleash the Kraken . The quicker we get there the more we will see what we can actually do without the shackles and nothing to lose .
Do you think 50 points will be enough Marlon? It has been in the past but there seem to be teams picking up points below us. I would love to get to safety as soon as possible and if that is 50 points then I will be happy, but I think it may be mid 50’s to guarantee safety. However, I think we will be safe no matter what and if we continue to play like today the who knows where we could end up, but I am 100% certain it won’t be the bottom half of the table. You Reds.
Noted Val's demeanour (if that's the right word) at the Chelsea match and I thought this isn't a guy who will ever see his club relegated.
I think 50 will be enough tbh but the quicker we get there the better and we won’t lose all the game’s after anyway imo so it’ll be fifty plus if we get there with a few games to spare imo .
The highest ever points total to be relegated from the Championship was 2013, when Peterboro finished 3rd bottom on 54 points. This was Flicker's great escape season when we finished 4th bottom with 55 points. General consensus is that 50 points is safe 9 seasons out of 10. We'll easily get to 55 points well before the end of the season, and I'm still sticking to my pre-season forecast of finishing with a 12 th place finish - with something like 60-65 points
Only one of the bottom eight are currently averaging enough points to get to mid fifties at the same rate. The best of the current bottom three have a had a points deduction - but if they pick up results at the same rate as they have all season they’d still only get to 50. None of the others in the bottom five would. Some will improve, they won’t all do. I think 50 will be enough to stay up, I can’t see it being more than 52 for definite. And regardless I think it highly unlikely we’ll end up on less than 60 anyway. I’d like to think we’ll get 70+.
Ah, the 50 point myth again. 3 times in the last 13 seasons that hasn't been enough. Peterborough 54, Leicester 52 and Blackburn 51 have all been relegated.
It’s what Big Val stated earlier in the season that fifty points as quick as we can then he’ll review the situation from there and that’s what I’m basing my post on tbh .
I think fifty two should guarantee safety GT, but it would be great to just take every game as it comes and see how many points we can amass. Disturbing rumour in the south that Southampton have a scout watching young Styles with a view to them making a move for him at the end of the season.
DR, I think it is inevitable that other teams will be looking at Barnsley players, especially the 2 Callum’s. No disrespect to Southampton, but I think he can do better than that. Styles is only 20 and if he can stay fit he is going to have some career. There is also the possibility we could be in the same league next year . If we do sell Styles I would like to think that whoever buys him pays top dollar for him, especially, if I remember correctly, he has a fair bit of contract left. It’s a nice to know that people are taking notice of the players though.
I don’t think many, if any predicted that we would do a Hull. But couldn’t discard the possibility that if this month doesn’t go particularly well then we could be looking over our shoulder during the run in. I’d be a lot more worried if I was a hudds fan, but Ismael says he wants to get to 50 points quickly for a reason
