I knew he wasn't right. He hasn't seemed himself in interviews lately.

Id agree with you but its a bit of a grey area and many countries insist on 2 weeks quarantine which makes it not very practical. For my Mums funeral I was able to go of course because I live in the UK but I think it would have been a problem if I was living abroad - My cousin in France coudn't come for example. I dont know the german rules but suspect he would be quarantined for 2 weeks and would have to isolate for 2 weeks on his return to the UK.
I think there should be exceptions in cases like this maybe with additional testing but i dont make the rules

He would be allowed into Germany but have to present a negative test (which shouldn't be an issue) to travel - then have to self-isolate for 10 days (5 with a negative test) on arrival.

He wouldn't currently have to on return though - but that could change before he gets back.

I've just read up on this article. Utterly horrendous for Jurgen. Imagine not being able to say goodbye to your Mum.

My heart goes out to you Jurgen. I hope you can come through this

No. Obviously not. But travel for a football fixture is. The mind boggles.

Travel for a funeral is considered essential travel and still allowed under the German and British rules - with conditions.

What conditions. I’m intrigued, cos I’m sure I’d try meet em if at all possible. All reports suggest. he wasn’t allowed to go. Compassionate leave would have been granted. ( you’d think)

To be fair to the Germans they’re not letting the Liverpool team in for their game vs Leipzig, that is now being played in Hungary which I think is bonkers but there is some consistency. I think, and may be wrong, that it’s to do with this Kent variant of the virus that means Germany has effectively shut us off.

Cnuts. If that were other way round Furer Merkle would have it played in this country.
