His team, Melbourne Victory, have also signed Jacob Butterfield. They shipped five goals and the defence was all over the shop. But Ryan Shotton was cool.... athletic, committed, tall, dreads and Black. How come I didn't know he was a black guy? I listened to every game he played for us and I was hoping we would sign him up. This was pre-ifollow. Now don't anybody give me strife about racism... I was so pleased to see him yesterday and and it was an amused and positive feeling I had about the revelation.... (reading this back I feel that maybe i'll take a hit tomorrow)

I reckon it is lower third tier standard and so I expect Ryan and Jacob to do well.... Scott McDonald (ex Celtic) got two of the goals..

    (come on... hit the button)

Cracking player was shotton, but never really ‘kicked on’ similar to nayatanga , Chris Lumsden and so on in that regard. I guess talent only takes you so far.

Smashing player for us. Very surprised he hasn't done better through the rest of his career, though with the clubs he's had I'm sure he's well set financially. Good luck to him.

I always thought he was a decent player and did well for us.

It’s because every time the commentator said Shotton you had a mental image of Malcolm Shotton

It's actually good that you didn't. Must mean that the descriptions you heard of him weren't lazy stereotypes

Really liked him at Barnsley. I thought he’d become a premier league player & even thought he might get a few England caps in his career considering how good he was in the first loan spell of his career with us when he was still a teenager.

It’s strange that he’s stayed at the same kind of level & never improved much from when he first broke through.

I didn't know Chris O'grady was black until I saw him in a Barnsley shirt. I was expecting a ginger haired white Irish lad.
