Everyone else sees a bunch of old farts making idiots of themselves, has a chuckle, maybe shares it on social, then gets on with the rest of their lives without giving it any more thought.

The BBS turns it into yet another socio-political thread.

And the match is off! :(

It wasn’t a ‘ normal’ Parish meeting , it was called by two councillors to address previous bullying and disruptive behaviour and Weaver was invited to adjudicate, as I understand it

I'm happy to admit I don't understand it. I don't know who is right and who is wrong. I realise it's more about the behaviour than the issue but completely out of context (for me anyway) it's difficult to know if the bad behaviour is without foundation or due to some very real frustration due to very poor officiating. That doesn't make it excusable, but it does make it understandable, which is different.

I find two of the blokes objectionable, but Jackie does continue to talk while the horrible old bugger is talking and that in itself is not good behaviour and a sure fire way of getting a reaction.

She's much nicer than them, clearly, but I've experienced much, much worse than these two. It's definitely a matter for the council to address but I'm surprised by the attention it's elicited.

Brilliant. If you were a Ricky Gervais, Peter Kay or Caroline Aherne type who have penned some beaut 'fly on the wall' type comedies I reckon they'd struggle to beat it. Hope the tossers are scarred for life, in an embarrasing way like.

TBF everywhere I’ve seen it, it’s part of a socio political discussion, including breakfast telly.

I only managed about 7 minutes, but it looks to be one of those situations with a bit of history. Possibly not helped by the use of zoom, but some people have "arrived" for the meeting already wound up, and that's never a good thing.

I worked in local government for many years and never behaved in an aggressive or obnoxious manner - it's not my nature anyway, but I'm also bright enough to know that you can't win arguments or get your points across if you behave like a tool. You have to take people with you, not cut them off or stifle them.

Political meetings are a natural battleground, but that doesn't excuse rudeness and bad behaviour. Sadly, even The House of Commons would be a complete free-for-all without the role of Speaker.
