Unused and unopened, date maybe 1970s.
Remember, the smelly smooth paper stuff made in Chapeltown.

Now wash your hands. Prophetic eh?

In the early 70s Bristol Polytechnic produced a student newspaper called "Izal".

Coronation Street was originally called Florizel (or izal) Street but someone objected saying the name sounded like a disinfectant. Hey ho!

In the early 80's I dumped 1000's of those, not long before they pulled that bit of the factory down and built houses on it.

The Izal factory employed hundreds of young women between 16 and 30. The Christmas Eve's in the Commercial across the road were a sight to behold. Had some great memories from that time.

What happened to them at 30? Was it like Logan's Run?

Nice one. They also employed women over 30 but as a virile young man of 21 I wasnt interested in anyone over 30 at that time. Anyone between 16 and 60 wouldn't look at me twice nowadays but I'm happy with my memories of that time.

When we caught the 70 bus from ? to Sheffield it used to go past the Izal factory, having gone down that steep hill into Chapeltown.
It was a white building if I remember right.
