Royal Mail was trying to achieve the increasingly impossible from when I joined in 2008 and had lost the battle by 2017 when I left. Under resourced with a Government that doesn't want to hear the truth and top management too self interested and craven to make them listen. God knows what it's like now. Worst managed organisation I've ever witnessed. I've got mates still there and it must be heartbreaking for them.
As others say delivery drivers are terrible for just leaving stuff, even more so since Covid. Again another reason I use Amazon I find them to be the easiest to deal with in terms of getting refunds.
R M got fined £1.6 million for not adhering to the Universal service (clear offices, deliver 6 days a week and every home with mail) but couldn't guarantee it with online shopping and mainly covid so they were allowed to leave mail. It IS badly managed and is going down hill FAST!!!
Tongue was very firmly in cheek. I didn’t actually think Royal Mail had taken four years to deliver post. Understand you are well up against it and doing the best you can. I have an uncle that works for RM and he says the exact same things you’ve just said.
Something you may not know Once a tracked parcel has failed to meet the delivery date, it matters not how late it is, it's just late. If it were delivered the following day, a day late, it would be late. If it were delivered four weeks later, it would be late. Same target missed for both packages. If it were delivered the next day, when already late, and there are lots of new parcels that aren't yet late, the new parcels might be delayed and become late too, as time would be spent delivering the late packages. There's no benefit in delivering an already late parcel, but there is for ensuring the newly arrived are on time. So the already late are left and the parcels that aren't yet late take priority, until a time when delivering the already late does not cause any other packages to be late.
I think i get it lol tracked parcels HAVE to go same day and if you bring any back woe betide you!!!!!
I live on a new build estate with I’d say about 300 houses on, there’s literally always delivery drivers on here throughout the day non-stop. I’m sure you could ‘make’ a fortune going round the back gardens and wheelie bins on the estate. Gotta be plenty of it going on with the way couriers leave stuff around.
Must be a national directive mate. My mate and his colleagues all work solo now because of covid. Parcels are put out first and Mail left to accumulate. First class Mail is a fkn joke. Like you my mate feels so guilty having to leave letters sitting undelivered knowing that some could be of vital importance to people.
He knows. Tbh he is that pissed off he has been off since the week before Christmas. Moral is at zero level.
barnsley d/o has had covid issues for ages, added with regular sickness it's hit them bad we had 2 sent from ours to help out but wasn't told covid had hit so they then had to isolate until they got a negative result, calling it poor management is a compliment to them, don't forget no one can van share so 1 of the pair (unless lucky to have a van each) must either walk or catch a bus to the start, this may take an hour there & back or follow in own car (postie has to pay extra insurance too) or if they live on their round can store mail in house, this has no monetary benefit to the postie and was a sackable offence pre covid it is a great job to do, but very poorly run by management with no people skills
