According to this webpage interest in Alex Mowatt will increase substantially in coming weeks. I don't know if this particular site is sponsored by football agents but if not , it's doing a job on advertising that AMs contract is up in the summer and he has not yet opted to resign for BFC despite the best efforts of VI and Dane Murphy. I hope history doesn't repeat itself ie Hourihane ,Scowen,Watkins etc but time will tell. I must admit I have the feeling that if he was gonna resign he would have done by now but I could be wrong.

Arpete: that's really sad, are you the one being wrung or are you the wringer? Either way, not good. (yes I know I shouldn't do this.....someone is going to get back, probably very soon :D:D)

    noun
    noun: wring; plural noun: wrings
    1. an act of squeezing or twisting something.

Sorry teacher, but at least this post is about football not politics, dog grooming, covid etc which have graced this football forum page over the last few days

Could he be doing a Boris? Ie wait till the deadline in the hope that the club offers more money.

If that's the case I wish the club would just offer the money.

Agreed. If it drags on, some club is bound to come in with enough cash to lure him away.

He’s going... sign now and get pretty much what you’re on with a bit more.... or sign to another club with a decent signing on fee and more money per week than Barnsley can afford... and an agent with the glint of dollar in his eyes.

    Hope I’m wrong....

I can understand players wanting to better themselves but there's a good few who have left and not made it, unless it's all about the money. Big fish in a small pond comes to mind.

I would hope he would sign before too long and not wait til the last minute as we would have some time to bring in a replacemental. Losing Alex and Matty James would be detrimental to our present form. I would not want a repeat of a previous season where we limped over the latter part of the season after being in a good position until player sales in the transfer window.

Think you're probably right. Be very difficult for us to do anything about that. Even if that 'bit more' is quite considerably more, it won't be in the same league as what he could get elsewhere.

Mowatt doesn't owe us anything. For two and a half years he's run himself into the ground every game, giving his best for the team he represents. Consummate professional at all times. He's talented at something that could make so much money for him and his family. I wouldn't begrudge him that.

And there's no one to blame at our club. Other clubs have more money. That's just a fact.

If he goes, we need to be really savvy in what we do. Do we need a replacement midfielder, considering we've also lost James? Or, if we can find a left wing back like Callum Brittain (or another Darren Barnard) which gives us a choice of Palmer, Styles and Kane in the centre, might we be stronger? We've already added one forward, if we could also get another, and they click, who knows what could happen?

I still love this song, but always thought it was way too slow. Now with the power of youtube...

Change the playback speed to 1.25. It's still a little slow but it's getting there.

I'd somehow missed the dog grooming post, all caught up now though. Cheers Arpete :)
