Good bit of business that, in that if it doesn't work out for the lad ( and we have to hope that it does), we won't lose a fortune if we sell him on. Just spotted this article in the YP. Thankfully it must have gone a long way in helping us during the pandemic. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...h-boost-received-barnsley-last-season-3087045
Just been looking at the Norwich forum and it seems it might be slightly on the high side given he only had 6 months of contract left but they seem to see it as good for both clubs . Good luck to him, I think if this didn't come up he was looking at a free transfer to MK Dons, hopefully we get a little bit of cash for it too! Good bit of business if we get some money for him. He came through the academy so other than wages (which a chunk has been covered by loan clubs) he's not cost us a fortune. He needs a full time club for his own future and maybe a club like Barnsley might be good for him. If we get a couple of hundred grand we'll have done OK with six months left on the contract. He's more a victim of circumstance and indeed not being Pukki. It was also obvious that he was a good, committed pro who gave himself every chance but other facts got in the way. Shame he couldn't quite make it through the door with us, but definitely one I'll wish the best of British to. Would be nice to see him come good. So, the last of our great 2013 FA Youth Cup winning side has officially departed to Barnsley. What a fabulous opportunity for the lad given his horrible injury setbacks he had here. I always had the feeling he wouldn’t quite make it here, with the greatest of respect, but it’s great to see he’s joined such a forward thinking club. Barnsley showed they can play good football - and I wonder if when Barnsley play Brentford or Bournemouth, Carlton will have his Sergi Canos moment ala Brentford v Leeds and play one final part for NCFC? Let’s hope so. Good luck to him, he’s worked hard for this and it’s a great move for him with promotion prospects to the PL of their own It’s a great move for him given how well they’re doing, and when you look how close he appeared to be to having to call it a day after that injury. I honestly thought he’d never make it just because the poor lad could not catch a break - but I’m very pleased to see that his hard work has paid off, he has earned this move through guts and determination, not to mention ability but the latter was never the issue anyway. I have this feeling that, even though he’s only 25, he will be one of those late bloomers in football. I remember Holty was training him up and had taken him under his wing, and I won’t be surprised if Carlton (and Barnsley) might just see the payoff from learning from the master in these coming months and years. What a story that would be for Carlton if they were one of the 3 teams promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season. I'm liking the sound of him even more.
