For not being invited to work's party! New mum on maternity leave set to earn 9k in compensation because she didn't get an invite. Be a millionaire if I sued for all the parties I haven't been invited to
This is the story under the headline..... A new mother has won up to £9,000 after her bosses forgot to invite her to the office Christmas party when she was on maternity leave. A tribunal ruled the snub to Catriona Howie merited compensation because of ‘injury to her feelings’. However she lost her claim that a colleague had discriminated against her by mocking her decision to name her daughter after the singer Elvis Presley.
She made a few claims at the tribunal which were thrown out - including people laughing at her baby's name. So she could receive 9k for having her feelings hurt. Again - just a bit of light relief as this place has been pretty grim recently. We've had people talking about their mental state - it was meant to make people smile. I apologise for trying to lift the mood - I'll make sure everything I post is morbid!
I appreciate that you offered it as ‘a joke’, but she was unfairly dismissed, I just thought you ought to know that. If you find it funny, fill yer boots, but I’d guess if she’d called her kid Woodrow and been bullied out of her job you’d be organising a gofundme
