Mowatt didn't play Saturday as we know, but last missed a league game August 31st 2019 away to Wigan. Also has only missed 2 league games in the last 2 and a half seasons. Some record that from our current Captain
If it's true why wouldn't you just announce it anyway so the fans know he's staying so it can put an end to speculation?
According to that website that quotes wages Ritz is highest paid, Woodrow,Sol are also on more. It also says James is on 10K here. No idea if validity though. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/footballleaguefc.com/barnsley-2019-20-player-wages/
I hope to God he stays. Three reasons: - He's one of the best players at the Club and would be hugely difficult, and expensive, to replace. - It's a statement of intent to those other players already at the Club that these Owners have jettisoned their previous approach and actually have some ambition - so these players should want to stay with us because we are an ambitions Club who can further their careers. - It's a statement of intent to those players who are not at the Club but want to be somewhere that matches their own ambition and development However, I think he'll leave for three reasons: - The Owners valuation of Mowatt will be different to his. - It's 'the policy'. - He's more ambitious than the Owners. If he does go it will be with my very best wishes. He has been outstanding in his time here and owes us nothing. I wish him well wherever he ends up (as long as its not in South Yorkshire!)
If there is any resemblance of truth, it goes to show how the club was willing to support Struber with wages for those he wanted.
A few weeks ago I was fully confident that he would, especially after the statements we heard from both him and VI etc. But the longer it goes on the less confident I get. My only hope that we get an answer very soon as the club still seems to think he will sign-on (or that is the message they pass onto us anyway) so if he isn't going to sign the club needs to know asap so he can be sold if needed and a replacement sorted.
I'd rather the club ditches a few fringe players and paid the better players at the club higher wages.
Ritz can't be on a higher wage than Mowatt... Can he?! If Mowatt plays well, we play well. he has 4 goals at the halfway point, without any penalties. If he matches that return in the second half of the season, that would be an excellent return from midfield in a 3-4-3. Even if we can't agree a contract this month, we should be turning down any bids unless they're really silly money, and continuing to negotiate with him. If he does go, we will not be able to bring anybody in that comes close to replacing him. Kane is a few years behind, and will be good in time, same can be said for Palmer. Whiteman will be out of our reach now a bidding war has started. I'd say accepting 3m for Mowatt would be a false economy at the moment.
We also have to factor in who the Head Coach wants. Struber didn't fancy Mowatt or Woodrow playing them both out of position. The new head coach might have other targets and need to free up funds. There are plenty of moving parts going off behind the scenes.
Starting to look like Struber was a good coach and man manger, but terrible judge of player ability... If the current coach thinks he needs players now, he'll need even more if Mowatt and Woodrow were to be sold to fund it.
Source for this? As bree left days before conor so if bree was 2.5million like you said we then sold conor for 615k
This pandemic and reduced income for clubs will see a flat market in my opinion. I don't see many big signings either in or out. If there are any, I can't see clubs in our Division parting with millions like they used to and I don't think any of our players are currently Premier League quality. On the plus side, there may be a few bargains to be had given the current climate.
