Causing every second person to get covid-19. Why hasn't it managed to transmit 50 miles in the last 4 months? The much less contagious strain covered every inch of the country in 3

Of course they will. It's a virus, it's what they do. It's their sole purpose.

Thanks for posting this - it's just brought back memories of a fantastic holiday we had in Cornwall when the kids were bairns (6 and 4); we all used to sing this as we were touring about to various beaches, attractions etc. :). Where have the years gone :(.

It’s just going to stay down south isn’t it along with most of the vaccines I bet.

I guess his point is that the over 60s and people with health conditions should shield indefinitely. People that live with them should move out. People that work as their careers should disown their families and form a shielded bubble with the vulnerable.

Is that the “protect the vulnerable” master plan?

The new strains only spread in Tier 2 areas.
This shows the tier system is working perfectly.

    To answer the OP.

In the first few months of the year the virus had multiple sources of entry into the UK. Dozens and dozens of people in all areas of the country began entirely independent infection clusters. It wasn't spreading from a single point, it was spreading from hundreds. From Carlisle to Colchester, Exeter to Edinburgh. And it was spreading at a time when there was nothing in place to keep that spread in check. No social distancing, limited hand washing, no isolating, little if no working from home.

The new variant, if that is actually the correct term, has spread from a single source. The genetic mutation of a single virus when it was synthesised in one person. It has spread during a period where there are multiple measures in place to restrict the spread of viruses. Under conditions that have restricted the spread of the influenza virus like never before.

Just how transmissible the new variant is has yet to be fully established despite some outlandish claims by our MPs and those who stand beside them claiming to be scientists. But even if it is more transmissible than they have claimed, and that is still a possibility, there is nothing bizarre at all about the pattern of the spread.

Because its real purpose in life is to bring about the lockdown needed when folks realise that they have been well and truly shafted by the 'Trade Deal' with the EU. No protests eh? Knocks Bexit off the front page for a day or two and gives folks something else to think about.
